1. Little Giant 554425 – Best Rated Condensate Pump
Little Giant is a nice company. Little Giant HP Pump is a great tool. Little Giant VCMA-20ULS (554425) 1/30HP Condensate removal pump features safety switch, ½ gallon ABS plastic tank, and 6ft power cord.
This works great. I hooked it up to my dehumidifier and screwed the pump directly to the front of the bucket and ran the hose from the spicket to one of the holes on the pump.
Don’t even hear the pump come on over the noise of the dehumidifier. I tested it by pouring water into another hole while it was running and works like a charm.
The outlet was done by running the outlet hose straight up to the ceiling then angled down to a Y adapter I put in at the washing machine drain.
I have it in the laundry room which is right next to the open doorway mudroom where I keep all my leather. (boots, jackets, and hats). This thing is great and will save me a lot of bucket dumps! YEAH!! Hopefully, it will last a long time, time will tell.

This lil giant has run all Summer and has saved me countless trips up and down the cellar stairs to empty heavy buckets of water. (last year twice a day!) It’s attached to an old dehumidifier via a length of garden hose and a clamp.
It comes with some tubing that I ran out of my cellar window and into a now severely overwatered flowerpot in the yard. It effortlessly pumped the water straight up and outside, a distance of about 12′.
The only issue I had was my own fault, and I mention it only because it’s something to be mindful of as you set up the pump and use it.
The pump is a bit top-heavy, and a rigid and shifting garden hose attached to it can easily tilt the pump one way or another. I wasn’t paying attention and in moving my dehumidifier slightly, I must’ve inadvertently tipped the pump just enough to angle it so it was drizzling onto the floor, I caught it before it made a real mess.
It was not the device’s fault, just something to be mindful of. It comes with brackets that you can use to mount it to a vertical surface like a wall which will eliminate this minor issue altogether.
Some folks have mentioned the Lil Giant is noisy. This was not my experience, especially as I compare it to my dehumidifier.
The pump’s motor is pretty smooth sounding, plus its tank is so small, and the engine so robust. that it literally only runs for about 3 seconds at a time. Here in the Northeastern US, it’s pretty humid in the Summer, so it was running as much as every half hour or so all through July and August.
Overall, it was well worth it for me and I wish I’d researched and found this solution sooner. If you are running a dehumidifier and don’t have a drain in the floor, this giant pump your collected moisture up and out. Plus you get to own a device with “Little Giant” in the name, but without all the pitfalls Wile-E-Coyote endured which is icing.

I’ve had several of these over the years and love them. I’ve found them to ruggedly build and very dependable. The last one I had worked flawlessly for over 15 years of hard continuous use in my restaurant.
For the first 10 years, it served as the pump for my a/c condensate water removal and for the past 5 years it pumped melted ice water from my ice machine ice bin up into a sewer drain line that was a little higher off the ground than the ice bin drain outlet.
I bought this new replacement unit, hooked it up, and I can only hope I get the same service from it as I did the last one. Does anything really last for 15 years anymore? We’ll just have to wait and see how this little guy performs.
By the way, I’m from the “old school” way of thinking and I never throw away anything that can be repaired, so I tore this old Little Giant apart to find out what part had failed me.
Turns out, it was just the micro float switch (a tiny contact switch no bigger than half a postage stamp) had gone bad. When the float rises with the water level to the top of the tank, the circuit in the micro switch closes allowing electricity to go to the pump motor turning it on and emptying the tank.
The only thing wrong was the tiny copper contact points had corroded and when I tried to clean them they snapped in two. So I ordered a replacement part ($15 w/shipping), popped it in place (15 seconds) and it fired right up.
I dare say this little guy is ready for another 15 years of service so I cleaned it up and put it in the empty box my new one came out of. Here it sits on the shelve waiting for the day it gets put back into service.
It runs perfectly. It only makes a little bit of noise when it cleans out the tank, but it lasts for a few seconds and you can’t hear it over the A/C unit. This thing saved me hundreds of dollars.
My drain pipe doesn’t connect to a mainline and it was constantly creating blockage and overflow. With this thing hooked up, I have it draining out through the washer line.
This was a replacement for a previous pump that quit working, which we realized when we started seeing water pooling under the furnace. The unit was easy to install, but that was partly because the furnace technician who diagnosed it had quickly run us through what we needed to do.
The written instructions were not useful and were confusing and contradictory. Thanks to the prior help and the simplicity of the unit, though, the written instructions didn’t matter.
It’s really just a few bolts if you’re doing a replacement, and if you pay attention to the removal, you’ll be fine to replicate the setup with the new installation.
If it’s going on now, it does require its own outlet installed properly for being near a water source, and the cord is fairly short, so the outlet has to be right where it is being used.
If you’re adding on new, you’ll need a professional electrician to put in/check the outlet to be sure that it’s up to code. But if you’re replacing, it’s easy to do yourself. Also, if it’s new, be sure that you have an outlet somewhere nearby for the water to go.
The pump is fairly powerful in that aspect; ours is mounted on the side of the furnace about a foot above the floor, and the drain tube goes from there up to the ceiling and over a doorway to use a utility sink as the outlet, and we’ve never had trouble with water not making it the full distance and backing up in the tube. I was nervous about replacing it ourselves, but it turned out to be fine.
- Fully automatic
- 12-month warranty
- Affordable price
- Check valve outlet
- safety switch, 20 ft tubing
- Contact leads are very short
- The reservoir really doesn’t hold much water

I used this pump to empty a water bed. It did the job in a little less than 30 minutes. It was very easy to set up and to start, make sure you follow the instructions about putting vegetable oil in it prior to using it.
The short hose that came with it was perfect. I was really impressed that they sent an extra set of brushes for the electric motor and an extra impeller for the pump.
They also send an extra gasket for the pump cover in case you do need to change the impeller. These are vital parts, that will over time wear out over time.
It works well so far. I am running the pump to supply water at a construction site from 55 gal drums in my truck bed. I plug this into a 300W inverter connected to the battery and it seems to pump at full volume without issues. It would be nice if it had an on/off switch on the pump so you don’t have to run back and forth to your power source to start and stop it.
My basement flooded with about 3 inches of water and although we used a sump pump to get it out, I could still see water standing in the drainage hole.
This indicated that there was water still standing under the basement floor and a little rain would cause it to rise back up into my basement. Searches every hardware store, Lowe’s, and Home Depot looking for something that I could use to pull and pump out that water.
No luck, until I ran across this pump. I wasn’t sure it would work but thought for the price I’d give it a try. It came in 2 days, fully assembled and ready to use which was great since it had rained for 2 days before, and sure enough, I had water in the basement.
Set this pump up and four hours later my basement was water-free, and there was no standing water in the drainage holes. While it was running I went outside to check the flow of water to determine the rate of removal.
I was shocked to see that it was flowing as someone had turned on a faucet!!! The packages say 300+ gallons per hour and it’s not lying at the rate it was removing water and the speed I would guess it removed about 1500 gallons from under my house (40×100 Lot).
I am certainly ordering another just to have on hand just in case this one goes out….at this price hell I should order 10. When I figure out how to post the video I took of the water pumping from my house I will post. This pump is incredible
- Made of durable material
- Lightweight and portable
- Perfect for household
- Good Suction power
- Noise level is low
- No warranty
- When empty the barrels, it doesn’t shut off automatically
